Election Commission working on a concept of E-voting

The Election Commission of India is working with IIT-Madras to establish Blockchain technology for remote voting, with significant progress anticipated by the 2024 General Elections, according to Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora.

He told while interacting with IPS probationers at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy that "One Country, One Elections" is desirable, it is difficult to achieve because it necessitates changes to existing laws and political consensus.

He also added that, "We're working on a project with IIT-Madras in Chennai, as well as some renowned scientists. We're working on a Blockchain project right now. We are optimistic that by the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, you will see several fundamental differences in the way the Election Commission operate, including e-voting."

Pointing on "One Nation One Election," he told that the existing laws will have to be amended to undertake this exercise.
