Latest reports have been coming in from Parliament where Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has said that the Government of India took every step to facilitate migrant workers at the time of Covid 19.
As per reports the Minister said that the people have criticised lockdown, but had it not been done, continuation of train services would have spread COVID19 across the country.
Railways at that time have arranged about 4,600 Shramik Special for migrant labourers with distribution of about 2 crore free meals and water bottles as per statement given by Railway Minister.
Given our emphasis on passenger safety and investment, the last passenger death due to a railway accident was reported in March 2019.
According to the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in Lok Sabha he has said that no death in nearly 2 years (between 2019-2021).
