Navjot Singh Sidhu Appointed As President Of Punjab Congress

Reports are coming in that former minister Navjot Singh Sidhu was appointed as president of Punjab Congress committee on Sunday along with four working presidents. 

The four working presidents are S.S. Gilzian, S.S. Danny, Pawan Goel and K.S. Nagra.

Reports are also coming in that Ms. Gandhi is learnt to have individual spoken to MPs from Punjab on the issue of elevating Mr Sidhu. 

Sonia Gandhi spoke to MPs individually and each one of them was opposed to the idea of making Mr Sidhu the the PCC chief. The decision came at the end of the day of of hectic political activity in Punjab and Delhi.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
