Ministry Of External Affairs Shares Details Of President Putin Visit To India

Latest reports have been coming in from Ministry of External Affairs which have shared Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Putin yesterday meeting with each other.

According to the reports Foreign Secretary HV Shringla has stated that we are looking at intensifying our Buddhist things with Russia.

There're apparently 15 million Buddhists in Russia. This community is keen on looking at India for pilgrimage and other areas of interest.

So the cultural cooperation is also important for both countries according to FS HV Shringla.

With regard to Ukrainian military developments, in the 2+2 meet, I think Russian side did provide a briefing on that situation.

I don't think there was anything beyond that. S-400 supplies have begun this month and will continue to happen according to Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla.

The issue of RELOS (Reciprocal Exchange of Logistics Agreement) has been put off for some time because there are still a few issues that we need to discuss further.

So I think we will be concluding it at the earliest according to Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla.

With regard to CAATSA, I don't think this issue came up at all (in talks with Russian delegation today).

The issue of legitimacy (of Taliban Govt) also did not come up according to Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla in New Delhi.

President Putin's visit is short but highly productive & substantive. There were excellent discussions between the two leaders.

28 agreements and MoUs were concluded during this visit. These agreements include those between Govt to Govt and business to business.

The fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to visit India for our annual summit is an indication of the importance he attaches to the bilateral relationship and his personal rapport with PM Narendra Modi according to Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla.

On the trade and investment side, there are some specific plans which include long-term corporation in the areas of inland waterways, fertilizers, coking coals, steel, skilled manpower. Coking coals emerged as an important area of corporation.

We have expressed interest in further investments in the oil and gas sector, as well as in the area of petrochemicals according to Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla.

Enhancing bilateral trade and investment figured prominently in the talks. This year, we've noticed an encouraging trend of growth in our trades compared to last year.

Both sides are looking forward to continued increase in trade and investment trajectory.

PM Modi thanked President Putin for the welfare of Indian community in Russia, especially during COVID pandemic.

Both leaders discussed the need for mutual recognition of vaccine certification to enable easier travel by our citizens to each other's countries.

The fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to visit India for our annual summit is an indication of the importance he attaches to the bilateral relationship and his personal rapport with PM Narendra Modi according to Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
