12, Including Schoolchildren, Dead As Bus Collapses In Himachal Canal


Twelve passengers, including schoolchildren, were killed after a bus crashed into a ravine in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu this morning. The visuals showed a badly damaged car.
KwaZulu-Natal Deputy Commissioner Ashutosh Garg said the bus, heading for Sainj, had crashed into a ravine near Jangla village around 8.30am. Regional officials and rescue teams arrived at the scene, and he said the injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

About 40 passengers were traveling by bus at the time of the accident, officials said.

The Prime Minister's Office wrote on Twitter that the families of those killed in the crash would receive compensation of ₹ 2 lakh per person. " "Himachal Pradesh. The injured will be given R50,000 each," he said.

Himachal Pradesh Prime Minister Jai Ram Thakur also expressed sadness at the tragic accident. Prime Minister Thakur has asked the Secretary-General to direct him personally to relief and rescue operations, his office said. He said a magistrate's investigation had been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident.

Prime Minister Thakur said ₹ 5 lakhs would be donated to the families of each person killed in the crash. The injured will receive emergency medical assistance of ₹ 15,000 and will be treated free of charge.
