Bihar Ex-MLA Appoints Contract Killers To Kill Daughter, Arrested: Police

A former Bihar MP has been arrested for hiring contract killers to beat up an angry daughter, who is married to a foreigner, police said.
Surendra Sharma was arrested on Sunday after the robbers, who paid her R20 lakh for "honorable murder", disclosed her name to police, said Pramod Kumar, a senior Patna police officer.

"An attempt was made to kill her daughter on the night of July 1-2. The woman, who lives at the Shri Krishna Puri police station, lodged a complaint with the police that she had been shot by unknown individuals and rushed off on a motorcycle after missing a goal," said Mr Kumar.

A search was launched, and on Saturday, Abhishek, known as Chhote Sarkar, who is in charge of the gang, was arrested along with two of his colleagues.

Abhishek told police about Sharma, a former parliamentary speaker in his native Saran in the 1990s.

Unidentified by various sects, Sharma, a former Independent candidate, is said to have a criminal background.

Three state-of-the-art firearms, ammunition and an unmarked motorcycle plate were among the items found at Abhishek and his colleagues, a police officer added.
