BJP Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Resigns Minister During Deputy President Buzz


Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi of the BJP has resigned as Union Minister today as there are rumors that he could be his party nominated by the Indian Deputy President.
Mr Naqvi's Rajya Sabha term ends tomorrow, and the BJP has not called for another term in the recent elections.

There are indications that the former BJP spokesman, 64, will be offered a senior position.

Mr Naqvi began the day with a meeting with BJP president JP Nadda and another with Prime Minister Narendra Modi before handing over his papers.

Mr Naqvi and Rajnath Singh were the only two ministers in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led BJP government.

The ruling party was discussing a minority representative in the second highest of the constitution, especially when the BJP faced an unprecedented reversal regarding Prophet Muhammad's remarks by suspended spokesman Nupur Sharma.

July 19 is the last day for the appointment of a Deputy President. Elections will be held on August 6.

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, former Union Minister Najma Heptulla and former Punjab Prime Minister Amarinder Singh also took part, reports said.

The BJP has appointed Droupadi Murmu, the leader of the Odisha nation, as its candidate for the presidency.

The party has enough numbers for the candidates to be elected to these two positions.
