Can Corona Cases Increase Again On Diwali? Are New Omicron Variants Dangerous?

New Delhi: It is feared that Corona cases can once again increase on Diwali. The reason for this is two new sub-variants of the corona variant Omicron. Their names are BA.5.1.7 and BF.7. 

Stay alert in festivals: Experts say that due to these, the infection can spread rapidly. The National Technical Advisory Group of Immunization (NTAGI) has also expressed concern about these sub-variants. It has been said – there is a need to be more alert in festivals.

Both sub-variants are very contagious: Both sub-variants are highly contagious. They were first detected in many states of China. Due to these, there has been a rapid increase in corona patients in China.

At present, cases are also being reported in America, Britain, Belgium, Germany, France, Denmark and Australia. 

BF.7 has been detected in Gujarat: These sub-varianfs can easily dodge immunity. BF.7 has been detected in Gujarat, India. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), since Omicron is a variant of concern, it is important to keep an eye on its new strains as well.

Why the need to stay alert: The festive season is starting with Diwali. In such a situation, most people will not follow protocols like face masks and social distancing. This is a warning bell for people with a weak immune system. They can be at risk from infection. That is why it is important that people avoid crowded places, leave the house only by wearing a mask and get their vaccination done.
