Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a big decision regarding the Indian women's cricket team. BCCI secretary Jay Shah has announced that now the Indian women's cricket team will be given same fees as the men. This decision was taken after the women's cricket team's IPL was approved in the BCCI's Annual General Meet.

Now this fee will be available for every match: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah tweeted: I'm pleased to announce @BCCI's first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted @BCCIWomen cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be the same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Cricket.

BCCI women cricketers will be paid Rs 15 lakhs in Test matches, Rs 6 lakhs in ODIs, Rs 3 lakhs in T20s.

New Zealand started it: Equal pay was started by the New Zealand Cricket Board. In the same year, the New Zealand Cricket Board announced that the women's national team and domestic women's players would receive the same match fees as men.
