Mulayam Singh Yadav passes away, last rites tomorrow in Saifai

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away on Monday. 82-year-old Mulayam was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram since September 26 due to urinary infection. Akhilesh Yadav informed about the death of Mulayam on the Twitter handle of Samajwadi Party. 

Mulayam's last rites will be performed in Saifai on Tuesday. There will be 3 days of state mourning in UP on the death of Mulayam.

Prime Minister Modi said - Mulayam used to listen to the problems of the people: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mulayam Singh Yadav on Twitter. He posted many pictures of his with Mulayam. Modi wrote- Mulayam was a grassroots leader, who understood the difficulties of the people. He devoted his life to the thoughts of Loknayak Jayaprakash and Dr. Lohia. He was an important soldier of democracy during the Emergency. As Defence Minister, he worked for a strong India.

The Prime Minister wrote- When I was the Chief Minister, I had several conversations with Mulayam Singh Yadav ji. I am saddened by the death of Mulayamji. My condolences to his family and millions of supporters. Om Shanti..

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
