West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee may offer Sourav Ganguly MP post, wants outgoing BCCI chief to join TMC

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee may offer Sourav Ganguly a Rajya Sabha MP post after his tenure as BCCI President ends. Along with this, TMC is making all out efforts so that Ganguly could win the post of Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) President.

Mamata wants Ganguly to join TMC: The motive is that somehow Ganguly should join TMC. If this happens, Mamta can get a new face and the party can get a new icon.

Mamata Banerjee had a day earlier on Monday came down heavily on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for not extending Sourav Ganguly's term as the BCCI president. Mamata said she will request PM Modi to ensure that Ganguly is allowed to contest elections for ICC chief.

Ganguly becomes necessity for TMC: TMC is currently facing huge difficulties in Bengal. Two of his ministers Subrata Mukherjee and Sadhan Pandey have passed away. At the same time, Partha Chatterjee, who was at the number-3 position in the party, is in jail on charges of corruption.

Case of disproportionate assets against 19 TMC leaders: The case of disproportionate assets against 19 TMC leaders-ministers is going on in the court. Mamta's brothers have also been accused of making illegal assets and the matter has reached the court. The TMC, which is surrounded by allegations, needs such an icon, which can benefit it in the elections. Sourav Ganguly is best suited for this.

Jawahar Sarkar's farewell and Ganguly's opening: Sources in the TMC revealed that Ganguly can be offered Rajya Sabha MP post after retirement of Jawahar Sarkar.

According to some political observers, Sourav Ganguly is unlikely to join TMC, but if he joins then TMC is sure to get big advantage, because he is an icon in Bengal.

Ganguly will run for president of CAB: However, Sourav Ganguly, the outgoing BCCI president has confirmed that he will run for president of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Ganguly was president of CAB before joining BCCI and will be president of the state organization again if he wins the elections.
