Ujjain: Addressing the gathering in Ujjain, the city of Mahakal, Rahul Gandhi once again targeted the Modi government and the BJP. He started his speech by saying 'Jai Mahakal' three times. Rahul said that India is a country of tapasvi or ascetics. Ascetics are worshiped in Hindu religion. They are respected.
Rahul Gandhi described the poor, laborers, farmers, youth and small shopkeepers as the real tapasvi. He said that the Modi government does nothing for these tapasvis, but a handful of people who worship Modi ji get everything.
He underlined the manner in which the farmers, labourers, carpenters, etc were doing penance each passing day by sincerely toiling for the nation.
Farmers asked me why they aren’t getting enough fertilizer: Rahul said that thousands of farmers during the Bharat Jodo Yatra asked me why they do not get adequate fertilizer and insurance amounts. The Yatra is India's journey and not of the Congress alone.
Demonetisation and GST broke the system's backbone: Gandhi said demonetisation and GST are actually weapons that broke the system's backbone in addition to worsening the unemployment crisis. Restriction of small traders' cash flow was devastating. Gandhi also touched on skyrocketing fuel prices.
In the Madhya Pradesh context, he said that the Professional Examination Board scam constituted a massive injustice to the youths. MP Congress Committee head and former chief minister Kamal Nath was present on the occasion.
