Celebrated Bollywood Actress Tabassum Passes Away


Mumbai: Legendary Bollywood actress Tabassum passed away at the age of 78. Her son Hoshang Govil told the media that Tabassum breathed her last on the evening of 18 November. But it was her wish that this news should be given to the people only after the last rites, so this information was given on Saturday.
Son Hoshang Govil told- Tabassum passed away Friday night at 8.40 pm due to cardiac arrest. She was absolutely fine. We had also shot ten days back. We were also supposed to shoot next week. All this happened suddenly. She had a gastric problem after which she was admitted to the hospital. She was also discharged, but her health deteriorated on Friday. She suffered two cardiac arrests within two minutes.

Made Debut in 1947 as Baby Tabassum

Tabassum stepped into the industry in 1947 with the Hindi film 'Nargis' under the name Baby Tabassum. She appeared on screen for the first time at the age of three. In the 70s, she made her mark as a successful television host. 

Became famous with Phool Khile Hai Gulshan Gulshan

She interviewed many big personalities in the talk show 'Phool Khile Hai Gulshan Gulshan' which ran for 21 years on Doordarshan. The show started in the year 1972 and ran till 1993. 

She was also continuously making videos for her YouTube channel for the last several years.

Her parents were freedom fighters

Tabassum was born on 9 July 1944 in Ayodhya. Her father Ayodhya Nath Sachdev and mother Asgari Begum were freedom fighters. Tabassum won the hearts of the audience by playing the childhood character of Nargis in the film 'Deedar'.

Was married to Arun Govil's brother

Tabassum was married to Vijay Govil, brother of Arun Govil who played the role of Ram in Ramayana. Both have a son Hoshang. Hoshang is an actor. He worked as a lead actor in Tum Par Hum Qurbaan, which was produced and directed by Tabassum.

Rumors of death spread last year

Tabassum was hit by Corona in April 2021, due to which she was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai. She had recovered from Corona after a long struggle. Meanwhile, the rumour of her death spread, then Tabassum herself issued a statement saying that she is absolutely fine.
