Rajasthan: Ajay Maken Quitting Party In-charge Post Marks New Chapter In Congress's Tussle

Jaipur: Ajay Maken has left the post of in-charge of Rajasthan Congress. Maken has written a letter to party president Mallikarjun Kharge on November 8 refusing to work as Rajasthan in-charge. Also, appealed to find another in-charge. After this letter, it is now believed that Maken will not work as Rajasthan in-charge.
Maken raised the issue of rebellion of Gehlot faction MLAs: In the letter, Ajay Maken has raised the issue of rebellion of Gehlot faction MLAs on September 25 and no action taken against them. Maken has written that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is coming to Rajasthan in the first week of December. By-elections are being held on December 4. In such a situation, it is necessary to appoint a new in-charge of Rajasthan. Bharat Jodo Yatra and quitting the post of state in-charge before the by-election is being considered as a new chapter in Congress's tussle.
Action pending against three leaders of Gehlot faction: Ajay Maken came to Jaipur as an observer along with the current president Kharge in the Legislature Party meeting on 25 September. The MLAs of the Gehlot faction had boycotted the Legislature Party meeting. After this, Kharge and Maken went to Delhi and gave a report to Sonia Gandhi. On the basis of this report, notices were issued to ministers Shanti Dhariwal, Mahesh Joshi and RTDC chairman Dharmendra Rathod.
All the three leaders also replied, but now the matter has been put in cold storage. The three leaders were held responsible for boycotting the Legislature Party meeting and calling it at Dhariwal's house. In his letter, Ajay Maken, referring to the political uproar on September 25, has pointed out that no action has been taken so far.

Maken is upset that even after nearly two months, the party has not taken any action against the three close associates of Chief Minister Gehlot who were given show-cause notices for holding a parallel Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting in Jaipur on September 25.

High command wants to enforce a change of guard in the state? However, the real issue could whether the Congress high command wants to enforce a change of guard in the state.

Sachin Pilot remains hopeful: Gehlot’s rival Sachin Pilot is hopeful that a change of guard would take place in near future. His camp has claimed that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have promised to make him Chief Minister a year before the assembly polls.
