Sanjay Raut Warns Rahul Gandhi There Was No Need To Raise Topic Of Veer Savarkar

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader and MP Sanjay Raut has warned Congress MP Rahul Gandhi that insulting remarks against Veer Savarkar are unacceptable and the opposition's Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance could break over this issue.Apart from Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party are included in the MVA alliance.

Rahul Gandhi had said on Thursday that Veer Savarkar had taken pension from the British and had apologized to them.
Responding to this statement of Rahul Gandhi, Sanjay Raut said that this comment can cause a rift in the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance. He said, "We consider Veer Savarkar a revered personality."

Bharat Jodo Yatra is meant to highlight other pressing issues

Hitting back at Rahul, Raut said, "The country is heading towards dictatorship and there's inflation, unemployment and atrocities on women. The 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' is meant to highlight all these issues. The maximum support to the Yatra has been received from Maharashtra. So, there was no need to raise the topic of Veer Savarkar. Even Congress leaders in Maharashtra don't appreciate it (Rahul's remarks on Savarkar)."
