Ahmedabad: Five MLAs of the AAP Gujarat unit met party supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi on Wednesday amidst buzz that they could join BJP. They discussed the expected organisational changes and their likely roles as first-time MLAs.

The five MLAs—Bhupat Bhayani (Visavadar), Umesh Makwana (Botad), Hemant Khava (Jamjodhpur), Sudhir Vaghani (Gariadhar), and Chaitar Vasava (Dediapada) will take their oaths on December 19, when the first Assembly session after the election will be held.

Bhayani had hinted he could join the BJP

Soon after the  Gujarat polls, Bhayani had indicated he could join the BJP. He said he would consult the people first. He later said he “will see in future what to do”.

Bhayani, who won from the seat dominated by Patidars, used to be in the BJP before switching to the AAP.

Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: Met with the newly elected AAP MLAs from Gujarat. I extend my best wishes to them for a successful tenure as they will tirelessly serve the people of Gujarat.

Bhayani said I am AAP’s loyal soldier

However in the night Bhupat Bhayani released a video statement. And said that he will not join any party but will work as a loyal soldier of AAP. He said that he is a loyal soldier of AAP and will remain so. They will not betray the party or their voters. He is not going to join any party.
