Bihar Motihari Chimney Blast: 8 Killed, Over 25 Feared Trapped

 

Motihari (Bihar): A blast took place in the chimney of a brick-kiln in Motihari, Bihar on Friday evening. Its debris fell on the laborers working there. So far 8 bodies have been retrieved. The owner of the chimney is also among the dead. 15 injured have been admitted to the hospital. More than 10 people are said to be missing. The incident took place around 4:30 pm.
The accident happened near Champapur village under Ramgarhwa police station area. People told that the chimney was set on fire for the first time this year. On this occasion, a banquet was organized on Friday evening. 

The chimney was lighted at around 2.30 pm. The villagers had gathered there to celebrate the occasion. As soon as the smoke came out of the chimney, there was a blast and the upper part broke and fell down.

Other half of the chimney is hanging

There was chaos after the incident. In a hurry, people were admitted to Raxaul SRP Hospital. After information, SDO and SDPO along with DM have reached the spot. The officials are waiting for the SDRF team from Bettiah. After its arrival, the rescue of the buried people will be started. The other half of the chimney is hanging, due to which everyone there is scared.
Chimney owner Mohd. Irshad and Narirgir village resident Anil Baitha have been identified among the dead. The other dead have not been identified. The injured include workers Amresh Kumar, Mukesh Ram, Alamgir, Abdul Haq, Ajay Kumar and Rakesh Kumar along with Chimney partner Noorul Haq, who are undergoing treatment at Raxaul's SRP Hospital.
The condition of all remains critical and they have been kept in the ICU. The director of the hospital, Dr. Sujit Kumar told that the condition of all the patients is very serious. Some people are also being treated in Ramgarhwa.
