Lionel Messi's dream of becoming world champion has come true. Argentina beat France 4-2 in a penalty shoot-out in the FIFA World Cup final played on Sunday. Both the teams were tied at 2-2 till the stipulated 90 minutes.
The match was tied 3-3 after extra time. After this the match was decided through penalty shootout. Messi scored two goals in the final. At the same time, Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick for France.
Argentina has won the World Cup after 36 years. Earlier, it got the title success in 1986. The team became champions for the first time in 1978.
Match went into extra time
By 90 minutes the score line was level at 2–2. After this the match went into extra time. Both teams scored one goal each in extra time. Lionel Messi scored for Argentina in the 23rd minute of the first half and Angel Di Maria in the 36th minute. At the same time, Kylian Embappé of France scored 2 goals to equalize the score line 2-2. Embappé scored a penalty in the 80th minute and a field goal in the 81st minute.
This is the victory of a dream. Argentina won the World Cup under the captaincy of Lionel Messi, one of the greatest football players of all time.

Mbappe made such a comeback that once it appeared that he would snatch victory from Argentina's jaws.
