Navsari Accident: 9 Die, 30 Injured In Gujarat As Bus Hits Fortuner

Ahmedabad: A Fortuner car and bus collided on Saturday morning in Gujarat's Navsari district. 9 died in this. More than 30 people are injured. According to media reports, the luxury bus was going from Ahmedabad to Valsad. The incident took place in Veswan village of the district.

The SUV (Fortuner) was carrying nine passengers, who were employees of a firm in Ankleshwar.

Bus driver suffered heart attack: The exact reason behind the accident could not be ascertained. But according to information, the driver suffered a heart attack while driving the bus. Due to this the bus went out of control and collided with the car. The driver is alive after the accident and is undergoing treatment. 

The accident happened on National Highway No. 48 last night. On getting the information, the top officials reached the spot and took the injured for treatment. Traffic on the highway was halted for some time.

Additional district collector Ketan Joshi said that out of the 32 injured, 17 were admitted to a hospital in Valsad, 14 were admitted to a hospital in Navsari and another injured was taken to Surat for treatment.

He said investigators were guessing that the driver of the SUV must have fallen asleep.

Home Minister Amit Shah has also expressed grief over this accident. In a post on social media, he said – The road accident in Navsari, Gujarat is heart wrenching. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
