Weather News: IMD Issues Cold Wave Alert For Whole North India, Cold Will Make People Shiver


New Delhi: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding the cold wave in North India including the country's capital Delhi. It has been said by the department that outbreak of cold will increase in NCR, Punjab, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Haryana and UP. 

The weather is likely to remain clear over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The effect of snowfall in the upper reaches will be seen in North India. Yesterday was the coldest day of this season in Delhi. The temperature here was 6 degree Celsius. Weather is likely to remain clear in hilly states

Weather warm in Mumbai

However, the warm weather conditions continued in Mumbai. The maximum temperature of the day here was 37 degree Celsius, due to which people here felt the heat. The weathermen predicted a mainly clear sky today followed by mist and fog. Also, the maximum and minimum temperature is likely to be around 25 degree Celsius and 6 degree Celsius respectively. 

Depression over Arabian Sea moves west

The depression over central Arabian Sea moved westwards and today lay centered over west central Arabian Sea. A low-pressure area lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean.

It is likely to move over Southwest Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours. Rain activities are likely to commence over southern parts of Tamil Nadu from December 19 night and gradually intensify. The weather will remain dry in the rest of the country. 

Moderate fog is expected over parts of Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh. Shallow to moderate fog was observed over Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
