Joshimath Landslide: Rahul Gandhi Expresses Concern, Asks Party Workers To Help Those Affected

New Delhi: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has expressed deep concern over the incidents of landslide in Joshimath, Uttarakhand, saying that the pictures emerging from there are disturbing and immediate strict steps need to be taken to provide relief to the people.
In a Facebook message, Gandhi said, “The pictures coming from Joshimath in Uttarakhand are very frightening, I am deeply disturbed after seeing them. Wide cracks in houses, seepage of water, cracks in the ground and subsidence of roads are a matter of great concern. In one accident, the landslide even led to collapse of the Bhagwati temple.”

People rendered homeless

He said, “Today the people of Joshimath are in dire straits due to continuous digging and unplanned construction on the mountains, going against the nature. In this bitter cold, this calamity has rendered the people homeless.

Rahul Gandhi has appealed to all the Congress workers there to help the people at the earliest and help them get to safer places. He has also urged the Uttarakhand government to take cognizance of the people in this harsh weather and arrange for their immediate rehabilitation and ensure the safety of the temple.
