Maheshwar (Madhya Pradesh): Maheshwar situated on the banks of river Narmada in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh is not only famous for beautiful and grand ghats and Maheshwari saris but now it is also known for Maheshwar's Sahastradhara Canoe Slalom. It has been considered the most suitable natural site in the state, where the Canoeing (Slalom) competition of the Khelo India Youth Games 2022 will be held on February 6 and 7.
Water sports included in Khelo India Youth Games
For the first time, water sports have also been included in the Khelo India Youth Games to be hosted by Madhya Pradesh. It has two important sports disciplines including Canoe Slalom and Kayaking, which are very popular now-a-days.
Rowing and Kayaking contests in Bhopal's Upper Lake
Rowing and Kayaking contests will be held at Madhya Pradesh State Water Sports Academy located in Upper Lake, Bhopal. Kayaking sprint will be held from 1st to 3rd February and rowing from 7th to 9th February.
In Canoe Slalom, the player has to cross a passage in a fast current of water in a special boat that remains in the air. Players get numbers for crossing that gate in a very short time without touching it. Players also have to cross the boat against the strong current. 6 or more gates are made in the flowing water stream, which the player has to cross.
