Nepal Plane Crash: Yeti Airlines Plane Carrying 72 Crashes At Pokhara Airport; 5 Indians Among Passengers

Pokhara: There has been a big plane crash in Nepal. Yeti Airlines plane carrying 72 people has crashed at Pokhara airport. There were 68 passengers and four crew members on board the plane. There were five Indians among passengers. The plane was going to Pokhara from Kathmandu.

A 72-seater passenger aircraft crashed on the runway at Pokhara International Airport in Nepal on Sunday. Rescue operations are under way and the airport is closed for the time being,

The Yeti airlines aircraft crashed about two km from the airport. 

Plane caught fire soon after crash

The plane caught fire soon after the crash. Rescue teams are trying to douse the fire and rescue people from inside. However, till now it is not known how many people have died in this accident. The death of 13 people has been confirmed so far.

According to initial information, the plane hit a hill. As soon as it crashed, it caught fire with an explosion. Due to the fire, there is a problem in the work of evacuating people. The site of the crash is said to be near a river. More details are awaited.

Preliminary investigation has suggested that the plane may have hit a hill while entering Pokhara city. Visibility was very low due to fog and it is believed that this is the reason for the accident.

In India, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has also expressed grief over the accident by tweeting.

32 bodies retrieved so far

According to local media, bodies of 32 people have been retrieved so far. The plane landed when it was supposed to land in Pokhara. Bad weather is being told as the reason for the accident. The death toll may increase.

The Prime Minister of Nepal has called an emergency meeting. Soon they can reach the spot. Till now the fire has not been controlled. Many of the bodies are in a decomposed state.
