Weather Update: Severe Cold Wave, Dense Fog In Delhi-NCR, North India


New Delhi: People facing severe cold in North India including Delhi-NCR do not seem to get any relief. On Monday, the day started with dense fog, along with this, cold wave has also wreaked havoc. In the forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department, it has been said that there will be no relief from the cold wave for the next two days.

Severe cold wave may continue: According to IMD, severe cold wave conditions may continue for two days in parts of North Rajasthan, South Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana.

Visibility almost zero in Delhi-UP: According to the Meteorological Department, due to the blanket of fog in the surrounding areas including Delhi-NCR, the visibility remained negligible. 

Visibility was zero in Bathinda, 25 meters in Amritsar, 25 meters in Ambala, 50 meters in Hisar, 25 meters in Delhi (Safdarjung), 50 meters in Palam, zero in Agra, zero in Lucknow, 25 meters in Varanasi, 50 in Bahraich. meter, 50 meter in Prayagraj, 50 meter in Purnia, Patna and Gaya of Bihar, 25 meter in Ganganagar.

Trains, flights affected: Around 29 trains have been delayed by two to five hours due to foggy weather, a railway official said.

Around 15 flights were delayed and one flight was diverted due to bad weather, officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport said.

Satellite images showed a fog layer extending from Punjab and adjoining northwest Rajasthan to Bihar across Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The mercury will dip further, there will be dense fog: The Meteorological Department has said that there is no possibility of any significant change in the minimum temperature in most parts of East India during the next three days. 

Temp may dip in Central India, fog to get denser in Delhi: In central India, the mercury may fall by two to three degrees in the next one or two days. Apart from this, there is a possibility of further increase in fog in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana. Same condition is going to live in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal.

Some relief after 2 days: The Meteorological Department says that after the next 48 hours, there are chances of some change in the weather. People can get relief from cold wave. However, there is also a possibility of snowfall and rain on the mountains, the effect of which can be seen in the plains.
