Adani Row: Opposition Demands Probe, House Adjourned Amid Uproar

New Delhi: Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 2 pm on Thursday amid noisy scenes in the House as opposition members raised slogans demanding a discussion on the report of US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research on the Adani Group.

Opposition parties haveay sought a debate in Parliament and a probe by a joint committee in Adani group company stocks, forcing adjournment of proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the pre-lunch session.

Members of almost all opposition parties rushed to the Well of the House raising slogans on the tanking of Adani Group scrips on the stock exchange and sought a probe into the business practices of the corporate giant.

Thirteen opposition parties including Congress, TMC, Aam Aadmi Party, SP, DMK, Janata Dal and Left held a meeting on the allegations of Hindenburg Research on Adani Group.

 The meeting took place in the chamber of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge. Out of these, 9 parties gave notice of adjournment motion in Rajya Sabha.

People will lose faith in bank and LIC: Kharge

Mallikarjun Kharge said that people's hard earned money is being wasted. People will lose faith in bank and LIC. Shares of some companies are continuously falling. The leaders of all the parties together have taken a decision that the incidents happening in the country from the economic point of view have to be raised in the House, so we had given a notice. We wanted a discussion on this notice, but whenever we give notice it is rejected.

Speaker Jagdeep Dhankhar,said that notices were given by nine members under Rule 267, which are not in accordance with the rules. He announced the rejection of all notices.

After this the Congress members stood together near their seats and started making noise. Seeing this, the Chairman adjourned the proceedings of the House till 2 pm.
