Kamal Nath's meeting in Thatipur on Ravidas Jayanti
PCC Chief and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath is on a visit to Gwalior on 5 February. This tour is being organised on the birth anniversary of Saint Ravidas. Kamal Nath will address a public meeting. On this occasion, feedback will also be taken from the workers of border districts.
During this, a huge public meeting will be organized at the Dussehra ground in Thatipur. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the Congressmen of Gwalior regarding this tour. Kamal Nath aims to breach Scindia's stronghold. The Congress has more focus on the Gwalior Chambal region, which is influenced by Scindia.
Gwalior Chambal region is important in politics of MP
It is noteworthy that Gwalior Chambal region is very important in the politics of Madhya Pradesh. There are total 8 districts of Gwalior and Chambal division in Gwalior Chambal zone. There are 34 assembly seats in 8 districts.
In the 2013 assembly elections, the BJP had won 20 of the 34 seats. However, the Congress dominated the 2018 assembly elections and won 26 seats. The BJP had suffered a loss of 13 seats as compared to 2013 and was reduced to 7 seats in 2018.
Kamal Nath's visit is important in many ways
Kamal Nath's visit on February 5 is important in many ways. There are assembly elections only after a few months. Defeating Scindia supporters in Gwalior Chambal region is a priority for Kamal Nath. Because Kamal Nath had to leave the Chief Minister's chair only after Scindia left the Congress. And that wound is still green.
Now Kamal Nath will try to sound the election bugle in a vigorous manner by harnessing the Dalit votes in Scindia's bastion.
BJP has 16 seats in Gwalior-Chambal region
In the by-elections held on 28 seats in the year 2020, 16 seats belonged to Gwalior Chambal region only. By winning the assembly by-election, the BJP had once again trounced the Congress in Gwalior Chambal. Then Scindia managed to show strength. This is the reason that everyone's eyes will be fixed on the results of Gwalior Chambal region in the elections to be held next year.
Kamal Nath never went to Gwalior while Scindia was in Cong
When Jyotiraditya Scindia was in Congress, Kamal Nath did not come to Gwalior. Kamal Nath has said many times in the press conferences that he never went to Gwalior as Scindia was there. Now that Scindia is in the BJP, it is a challenge for Kamal Nath to strengthen the Congress in this region. Accepting this challenge, now Nath keeps registering his presence here.
