Jasprit Bumrah May Stay Out Of IPL, WTC Finals As Well

Mumbai: India's veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah may be ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the upcoming e finals of the World Test Championship (WTC) due to his back problem.

Sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that Bumrah's injury appears to be more serious than expected.

Bumrah, who has been away from cricket for almost five months, is still not fully fit and the Indian team aims to prepare him for the ODI World Cup to be held in October-November.

Bumrah  missed Asia Cup and T20 World Cup

Bumrah played his last match for India on 25 September last year, after which he was away from cricket due to a stress fracture. He also missed the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup due to this fracture.

Bumrah could have returned to cricket through the IPL starting March 31, although the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru has decided not to do so in view of his condition.

The BCCI management, NCA and the Indian team are preparing a carefully planned schedule for Bumrah's comeback.

The WTC final is to be held at the Oval ground in England in June after the IPL and before the World Cup. If India wins the ongoing four-Test series against Australia by 3-1, then it will qualify for the WTC final.
