Manish Sisodia Sent On 5-Day CBI Remand; AAP Holds Nationwide Protests

 

New Delhi: The court has sent Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on CBI remand for 5 days till March 4. In the Delhi Liquor Policy case, the investigating agency had sought 5-day custody of Sisodia, which was accepted by the court. 

Earlier, Sisodia was produced at Rouse Avenue Court at 3:10 pm on Monday. After hearing about 30 minutes, the court had reserved its decision.
CBI arrested Sisodia on Sunday after 8 hours of questioning. The investigating agency had said that Sisodia was not giving correct answers to the questions. That's why his remand is necessary.

AAP activists clash with police in Delhi

After the arrest of Sisodia, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is demonstrating in many cities of the country including Delhi. Leaders-workers have been detained.
Aam Aadmi Party workers protested outside the party office in Delhi. They also clashed with the security forces. A scuffle also broke out between the women activists and the women police force.
Police warned AAP workers to move away. Many leaders-activists were also taken into custody. The police also entered the AAP office.

Aam Aadmi Party is demonstrating all over the country. Aam Aadmi Party workers demonstrated in Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh. Activists have been detained at many places.

Party workers are staging protests in Bhopal, Chandigarh, Delhi, and other cities amid tight security. .

Kejriwal said – Arrest made under political pressure

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "CBI did not have evidence against Sisodia. Many officers were against his arrest. Sisodia has been arrested under political pressure."

Raut said - Centre wants to silence Opposition

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, "The action on Sisodia shows that the central government wants to silence the opposition. We are with Sisodiaji. Be it Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Delhi, the Center is using CBI and ED to kill opposition leaders. Sending them to jail or forcing them to surrender. Be it Sisodia, Nawab Malik, Anil Deshmukh or me. Are all saints in the BJP?"
