PM Modi Flags Off Vande Bharat Trains To Shirdi, Solapur From Mumbai

Mumbai: The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi flagged off two Vande Bharat trains at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai today. 

The two trains are Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat and Mumbai-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat

Upon arriving at Platform no. 18 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, the Prime Minister inspected the Mumbai-Sainagar Shirdi Vande Bharat. He also interacted with the train crew and the children inside the coach.

First time 2 Vande Bharat trains flagged off on same day

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that it is a huge day for Railways in India, especially for advanced connectivity in Maharashtra as this is the first time that two Vande Bharat trains have been flagged off on the same day. 

Will connect economic centers to centers of faith

He underlined that these Vande Bharat trains will connect economic centers such as Mumbai and Pune to centers of faith, thereby benefiting those traveling for college, office, business, pilgrimage and agricultural purposes. 

Boost to tourism as well as pilgrimage

He said that traveling to sacred places like Shirdi, Nasik, Trimbakeshwar, and Panchvati will be made easier with the new Vande Bharat trains which will give a boost to tourism as well as pilgrimage. 

“The pilgrimages of Pandharpur, Solapur, Akkalkot and Tuljapur will also be made more accessible with the Solapur Vande Bharat Express”, he said.

One-way fare of trains

According to a Central Railways official, the one-way fare for the CSMT-Solapur Vande Bharat train without catering service will be Rs 1,000 for the chair car class and Rs 2,015 for the executive chair car class. With catering service included, the fares will increase to Rs 1,300 and Rs 2,365, respectively.

For the one-way journey from CSMT to Sainagar Shirdi, the fare for chair car without catering service will be Rs 840, and for executive chair car it will be Rs 1,670. With catering service, the fare will be Rs 975 for the chair car class and Rs 1,840 for the executive chair car class.

Trains will pass through these stations

The Mumbai-Pune-Solapur route will pass through Dadar, Kalyan, Pune, and Kurduwadi and covers a total distance of approximately 455 km. The train is expected to complete the journey within 6.35 hours and passengers only looking to travel between Mumbai and Pune can complete that leg of the journey within just 3 hours.

The Mumbai-Sainagar Shirdi route will pass through Dadar, Thane, and Nashik Road stations. The total distance covered by the route is approximately 340 km which the indigenously made semi-high-speed express is expected to cover within just 5.24 hours. The express train will connect important pilgrimage sites like Nashik, Trimbakeshwar, Sainagar Shirdi, and Shani Singnapur.

Vande Bharat Express trains are 16-coach long semi-high-speed trains designed in India. The trains are capable of accelerating to 160 kmph in under 140 seconds. The trains come with state-of-the-art features for passenger comfort, including passenger information, climate management and multimedia systems.
