Patiala (Punjab): The Congress has suspended Patiala MP Preneet Kaur, wife of former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh. This action was taken on the complaint of her involvement in anti-party activities in collaboration with BJP. Her husband Captain Amarinder Singh, who is currently in the BJP, officially resigned from the Congress party in November 2021.
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) President Raja Wading had sent a complaint to the party high command accusing Preneet Kaur of indulging in anti-party activities. On the basis of this complaint, Tariq Anwar, member secretary of the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) of the Congress, issued a letter suspending Preneet Kaur.
Preneet has also been asked to show cause within three days as to why she should not be suspended from the Congress party.
"The party was getting regular complaints about Preneet Kaur indulging in anti-party activities & party's state unit was demanding disciplinary action against her. The party's Disciplinary Committee decided to suspend her. Show cause notice served to her, said Congress leader Tariq Anwar..
I know nothing about my appointment as Maha Governor: Amarinder
Meanwhile, Captain Amarinder Singh met Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday.
Although Amarinder Singh dubbed the meeting a casual one, it triggered a buzz over his appointment as the next Governor of Maharashtra. However, Singh said that he knew nothing about it.
"I haven't received any information yet about making me Governor of Maharashtra. I have told PM Modi that I will fulfill whatever responsibility is given to me," Singh said, quashing the rumours.
