Ramcharit Manas Row: What Akhilesh Yadav Wants To Achieve And Are Upper Caste Leaders Within SP Worried?

Lucknow: Ramcharit Manas Row: The controversy over Ramcharit Manas has snowballed and RSS Chief Monan Bhagwat has also issued a statement. Bhagwat made a statement in Marathi on the occasion of Swami Ravidas Jayanti. His statement was made to look like anti-Brahmin in a section of the media.

What Bhagwat said: Bhagwat said on Sunday that God has always said that everyone is equal for him and there's no caste, sect for him, it was made by priests which's wrong.

Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya gave a statement that if this statement of Bhagwat is not under compulsion, then he should get those lines removed from Ramcharit Manas, which hurt the sentiments of the people.

The RSS chief's comments have come amid a political storm stirred by Swami Prasad Maurya, a prominent OBC leader in Uttar Pradesh, who claimed that certain verses of the Ramcharit Manas insult a large section of society on the basis of caste and demanded that these be banned.

Rhetoric on Ramcharit was started by Chandrashekhar Yadav: The rhetoric on Ramcharit Manas in UP was started by Bihar Education Minister Chandrashekhar Yadav. After that, Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya talked about banning the book itself.

Instead of convincing Maurya, Akhilesh made him the general secretary of the party.

Pallavi Patel threatened to launch an agitation: Now Samajwadi Party MLA Pallavi Patel warned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

During a programme in Gonda, Pallavi Patel said there needs to be a revolution to erase certain 'insulting words' from the verses from people's minds. She threatened to launch an agitation against Ramcharit Manas.

Mulayam enjoyed the confidence of all sections: To understand this one has to understand the history of SP. Mulayam Singh formed the Samajwadi Party in 1992 after a split in the Lok Dal. Even though the base of SP was the equation of M means Muslim and Y means Yadav, but Mulayam enjoyed the confidence of all sections of society.

Uneasiness among upper caste leaders of SP: Right now when the ruckus has started on Ramcharit Manas, there is uneasiness among the upper caste leaders of SP.

Akhilesh focusing on Dalits, OBCs: Akhilesh has changed his strategy this time and is focusing on the Dalits and Backward Classes, so he is not touching Maurya, but wants to take the upper castes as well. This is his dilemma. Now see the history of SP.

Mulayam used to take everyone along: Mulayam did politics on the basis of Muslims, Yadavs and other backward castes, but he used to take everyone along. During his time, where Yadavs and Muslims used to dominate in the organization and government, there was also a demand for upper caste leaders.

When Mulayam formed SP, at that time his team had strong general class leaders. Akhilesh is now eyeing the Dalit votes, which he believes are not with Mayawati. That's why Akhilesh does not control Maurya or Patel, on the contrary, he does appeasement.

Akhilesh making new plan for Mission 2024: Akhilesh Yadav is making a new plan for Mission 2024. He is preparing to stop the BJP by forging an alliance of OBCs, Dalits and Muslims. Akhilesh Yadav's recent decisions should be seen in this context.

SP executive neglects upper caste leaders: Recently SP has announced the new National Executive. There is not a single upper caste leader among the 15 general secretaries in its executive. Upper caste Kiranmoy Nanda has got the post of a vice president.

Akhilesh came to the rescue of Swami: On the controversial statement of SP leader Swami Prasad Maurya regarding Ramcharit Manas, Akhilesh came to the rescue of Swami. Akhilesh said that the chaupai of Ramcharit Manas is wrong and the Chief Minister himself should read about it. Swamy was made the national general secretary.

When BJP workers showed black flag to Akhilesh outside Pitambari Devi temple, Akhilesh immediately made it an issue. Akhilesh is eyeing those 10 percent Dalit voters who have shifted from BSP to BJP in 2022.

Ruckus within SP: However, in the midst of Akhilesh Yadav's new strategy, there is discontent within the party itself. The upper caste leaders of the party are feeling hurt. The political boil is on the rise.

Upper caste leaders in SP open front: After the formation of the executive committee, whether it is Om Prakash Singh, the strong leader of Purvanchal or Richa Singh, the flamboyant leader of Prayagraj, all have opened their front on social media. The outspokenness of upper caste leaders in SP should be understood only as a political brawl within the party.

Upper caste leaders within SP worrying about their future: In the politics of backward and upper castes, upper caste leaders within the party have also started worrying about the future.

Two important questions in front of upper caste SP leaders: The upper caste leaders within the party who are considering themselves as contenders for the Lok Sabha have two important questions in front of them. Firstly, on how many seats in the Lok Sabha will the SP give tickets to the upper caste candidates? Second, will upper castes angry with this strategy of Akhilesh vote for the party?

Tough road ahead for Akhilesh: Samajwad Party had given tickets to 79 upper castes in UP assembly elections 2022 and only 10 of them could win. That's why Akhilesh is changing the strategy this time and wants to involve Dalits. However, how successful he is in trying to pacify the internal bickering of the party and the upper castes, only time will tell.
