Madhya Pradesh: After Diamond, Now Amla Has Become New Identity Of Panna

 

Bhopal: One district-one product scheme in Panna district has given a new identity to Amla. Amla is mainly used in Ayush medicine.
Amla trees are mainly found in Panna forests. Amla found in Panna is extremely beneficial because it is fiberless. Amla is a rich source of Vitamin-C.
Effective efforts are being made for the collection and processing of Amla under the Devaranya Yojana of the MP Government's AYUSH Department. 

Panna is famous as Amla District of MP

Panna is also famous as Amla District of Madhya Pradesh. Amla is found in abundance here. Amla is most commonly used in making murabbas, which is a sweet and spicy relish. It is prepared by processing the amlas and is a great way of preserving amlas for a longer period of time. 

Focus on processing of Amla

Authorities in Panna are focusing on the processing of Amla so that it can be preserved for longer time. Besides, farmers are also being trained in modern methods of cultivation and harvesting of amla so that they can earn better profits.
A district level committee has also been constituted for coordination with various departments at the district level. Farmers are being encouraged for amla cultivation. Forest, Horticulture, Panchayat and Rural Development and Tribal Affairs departments are working together at the district level.
Also, help of voluntary organizations and self-help groups is being taken in this work. Panna district is now making a new identity in Amla production after diamonds.

Amla's Morabba will be exported: Collector

In fact, the Madhya Pradesh government has included Panna's Amla Morabba in the One District One Product scheme. According to Collector Sanjay Kumar Mishra, it is the vision of the government that Morabba and other products made from Morabba having medicinal properties should be marketed in the country as well as exported abroad. 

Panna has 45 percent forest

The district has 45 percent forest. This forest is a boon for the 11 lakh 26 thousand population of the district. Amla is abundantly found in the forests of Panna district. To make Madhya Pradesh self-reliant, one district one product scheme has been started by the state government. 

Under this scheme, Amla product has been selected in Panna district. Collector says that the identity of Panna with Amla product has been established in the whole country. 

Farmers are being motivated to plant Amla

Farmers are being motivated to plant Amla, Assistant Director Horticulture Mahendra Mohan Bhatt told that farmers are being motivated to plant Amla saplings in their fields and vacant land. Not only this, there are Amla orchards in the district in an area of 500 hectares on private land. 

A large number of farmers are now planting saplings in their fields. According to the Horticulture Department, a plan has been drawn up to start the production of Amla products on a large scale in the district. 

Women to be trained

Efforts were started to make Panna district Amla district in true sense. Mahendra Mohan Bhatt says that the department is also providing training to the women to make Amla products. The women taking the training will become financially self-reliant by making Amla products at their own homes and will also become the support of the family.
