Madhya Pradesh: Bhopal Gears Up For Grand Opening Ceremony Of Historic Shooting World Cup; CM Shivraj Will Inaugurate

Bhopal: Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is all set for the grand opening of a historic Shooting World Cup, the first ever event in India to be held outside New Delhi.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony to be held at Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre on March 21 evening.  

Luciano Rossi, President of the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) will be the Guest of Honour. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia and President, National Rifle Association of India, Raninder Singh will also be present. 

CM will open new final hall,  perform bhoomi pujan of International Sports Complex

The Chief Minister will also virtually inaugurate the new final hall of Madhya Pradesh. The inauguration ceremony will be accompanied by a performance of Mallakhamb along with the swearing-in ceremony.

Along with this, the Chief Minister will also perform bhoomi-pujan of the International Sports Complex being built at Nathu Barkheda, Bhopal. All the players and officials coming from abroad will be welcomed by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department by giving Chanderi stole and Gond paintings.

200 shooters from 30 countries are taking part

About 200 shooters from 30 countries are participating in Bhopal. Prominent names taking part will include reigning Olympic champion Jean Quiquampoix in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol, Rio Olympic champion Christian Ritz of Germany and women's air rifle world champion Alison Marie Weiss of the USA, among others, will be particpating. India's reigning world champion in men's 10m air rifle, Rudraksh Patil will also be seen in action.

India has made its identity in field of sports: Rossi

ISSF President Luciano Rossi and his wife Laura Rossi reached Bhopal on Monday. Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Yashodhara Scindia welcomed them with a bouquet at Bhopal airport.  

Rossi said that India is an emerging country in every field. India has also made its own identity in the field of sports. Sports Minister Scindia said that organizing the World Cup is not only a matter of pride for us, but after this event, our self-confidence will also boost and we will be able to hold such international championships in future.

Country's first indoor shooting range

This championship is being organized by the Government of Madhya Pradesh with the technical support of Rifle Association of India (NRAI), New Delhi. India has been entrusted with the organization of this World Cup by the ISSF. This is the 8th World Cup in India. This is the first international competition that is being held outside New Delhi. 

For the championship, a final range has been constructed at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy as per the prescribed standards, in which finals of all events of rifle and pistol will be held. State-of-the-art score boards and targets have been installed in the final ranges of 10m, 25m and 50m. The final range has seating for approximately 375 spectators.
