Rahul Gandhi: Action Against Me A Big Weapon In Hands Of Opposition

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday thanked the opposition parties for their support on the action to disqualify him from the Lok Sabha, saying that the action has given the opposition a big weapon. He has expressed his willingness to work with the opposition against the BJP government.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here, a day after he was notified of his disqualification from the Lok Sabha, Gandhi said, “I am thankful to all the opposition parties. We will all work together."

Rahul said, “This action (action of disqualifying me from membership) has given a big weapon to the opposition, because the public knows that Adani ji is a 'corrupt' person."

Is the country Adani and is Adani the country

According to Gandhi, “BJP people are saying that attack on Adani is attack on the country, so is the country Adani and is Adani the country.”

Gandhi said that the only reason for his disqualification from the membership of Parliament or not giving him a chance to speak in Parliament is that the BJP wants to divert public attention from the question arising on the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and 'Adani ji'.

The Congress leader said, “Whether I stay in Parliament or stay outside Parliament. I will keep raising this issue and will keep lifting the veil from it.”

Adani’s business does not generate cash of this level

Raising the issue of investment of Rs 20,000 crore in Gautam Adani-led Adani Industries Group and alleged shell companies, Gandhi said that this money cannot belong to Adani as his business does not generate cash of this level.

Money invested in industries like drones and missiles

Describing Adani as 'corrupt', he said that when this money has been invested in industries like drones and missiles in India, why is the Defence Ministry not concerned about whose money is invested in it.

The Congress leader also indicated that Adani has 'a Chinese national' among its investors.

Appearing before reporters accompanied by the party's chief spokesperson Jairam Ramesh, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and party leader and legal expert Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Gandhi said, "I am not questioning Narendra Modi, I am questioning Adani." You are saving Adani because you are Adani.

Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress is among the parties that have spoken in support of Gandhi or against the government on the issue of his disqualification. Just a few days back Mamata said that the opposition under the leadership of Gandhi will not be able to compete with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
