Rajasthan: CP Joshi New BJP State President; Satish Poornia Dropped Amidst Reports Of Differences With Vasundhara Raje

Jaipur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a major change in the party organization ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, appointing Member of Parliament (MP) CP Joshi as the new state president of the party.

Chittorgarh MP Joshi has been made the new state president of BJP in place of Dr. Satish Poonia.

In this regard, Organization General Secretary and Headquarter in-charge Arun Singh issued orders for the appointment of Joshi that National President JP Nadda has appointed him as the President of Rajasthan BJP.

Poonia was state president for over 3 years

It is noteworthy that Dr. Poonia was the state president of the party for more than three years. Seeing his good work, the organization had extended his tenure only recently. It was believed that now the state president will remain here till the assembly elections. But on Thursday the party changed the state president.

Dr. Joshi was elected MP from Chittorgarh for the second time in a row and before that also he has worked in various positions.

Assembly elections are to be held in Rajasthan this year i.e. in 2023.

Satish Poonia and Vasundhara Raje are at loggerheads

In Rajasthan, there were reports of friction between leaders in the state team. The central leadership was petitioned to replace Poonia, a Jat leader and an RSS man.

According to a party functionary, there were differences between Poonia and former chief minister, Vasundhara Raje.

Recently, the party appointed Gulab Chand Kataria as the governor of Assam, which was perceived as a shot in the arm for the supporters of Raje.

Vasundhara Raje has been pushing to name her as the chief ministerial candidate although the central leadership has said the election will be fought with the PM as the face.

Infighting in Rajasthan BJP has intensified of late, with Satish Poonia and former CM Vasundhara Raje at loggerheads. Raje supporters claim the party has sidelined her and are openly demanding that she should be the CM face in the 2023 Assembly polls.
