CBI Summons To Kejriwal: Why Kharge Expressing Solidarity With Delhi CM Assumes Significane?

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed solidarity with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the phone. Kejriwal is to be quizzed today by CBI regarding the now scrapped liquor policy.

Kharge calling Kejriwal is significant as it indicates Congress shedding its reluctance to reach out to the AAP at a time when both the AAP and the Congress have been steadfastly keeping a distance from each other. However, according to senior Congress leaders this is just the first step and more talks are needed.

Congress leaders, engaged in the campaign of opposition unity for the next general elections against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), are talking to the veterans of opposition parties and trying to bring the leaders of like-minded opposition parties on a single platform and unite them against the BJP. Kharge is also understood to have spoken to Kejriwal to express solidarity with him.

According to sources, Kharge is working on a plan to hold a meeting of leaders of various opposition parties soon. According to sources, in this regard, he has talked to many leaders of opposition parties.

AAP had supported Rahul when he was convicted in defamation case

The first sign of thawing of relations between the two parties had come when the Aam Aadmi Party Thursday had come out in support of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi after he was sentenced to two years in jail in a defamation case.

At that time Arvind Kejriwal had alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched to eliminate non-BJP leaders and parties by prosecuting them. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha had said opposition forms the core of democracy and dissent should not be stifled.

However, Kejriwal had also said earlier this month that in a democracy people are supreme and opposition parties should go to them with a positive agenda. He said if everyone says they have come together to defeat someone, then people don't like that. People say defeating anyone or making anyone win is their job and should be left to them.

Mann says he will also accompany Kejriwal

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party is also trying its best to showcase its strength and support to Kejriwal. In this sequence, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has said that when Kejriwal appears before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), he will also accompany him to the CBI.

Significantly, the Central Bureau of Investigation - CBI has sent a notice to Kejriwal in the matter of liquor policy and called him for questioning on Sunday.

BJP wants to topple Delhi govt: Sanjay Singh

Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of fabricating fake stories to topple the Delhi government, leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has said that every weapon failed to topple Delhi-Punjab governments, so now conspiracy has been hatched to arrest Arvind Kejriwal to bring down Delhi government.

He said, “The Prime Minister is scared of Arvind Kejriwal. A government that builds good schools, hospitals, roads. Gives free electricity and water to the people. Apart from this, the elderly get free pilgrimage and bus travel for sisters. First they tried to buy the MLAs by running Opetration Lotus. After this, two of our ministers were put in jail. Now a conspiracy has been hatched to arrest Arvind Kejriwal. The only aim behind this conspiracy is to topple the government."
