Chhattisgarh: Fire Broke Out During Congress Torch Rally In Support Of Rahul Gandhi, Seven Congressmen Scorched

JAGDALPUR: Congress took out a torch rally in Chhattisgarh's Jagdalpur to protest against the cancellation of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's membership of Parliament. Meanwhile, a fire suddenly broke out from the burning torch (mashal) and seven Congress workers got scorched after flames engulfed them.

According to police sources, the torch rally was to start from Congress Bhawan Friday night and pass through the main roads of the city. 

A BURNING TORCH GOT STUCK IN SPIRIT CAN 

After the start of the torch rally, as soon as the convoy of Congressmen crossed Sanjay Market Chowk and moved forward, some Congress workers started pouring spirit in it to light the extinguished torch. While pouring the spirit, a burning torch got stuck in the can of the spirit and a fire broke out.

More than seven Congress workers were engulfed in flames in the incident. All the workers have been taken to Maharani Hospital for treatment. Two Congress workers have been seriously burnt in the accident. These include Himanshu and Manish. Both these workers have been immediately referred to Raipur.
