Modi Flags Off Chennai-Coimbatore Vande Bharat Train; Opens Integrated Terminal Building Of Chennai Airport


CHENNAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off the Vande Bharat Express train between MGR Chennai Central Railway Station and Coimbatore here.


Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, Chief Minister MK Stalin, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan and many other public representatives were present on the occasion. This is the first Vande Bharat train launched in Tamil Nadu.
 

It is noteworthy that Modi also flagged off the Tirupati Vande Bharat Express train running between Secunderabad and Tirupati today itself.
 

Before flagging off the train, Modi interacted with the students present in the station premises. Those students were present there to welcome him. The Prime Minister shook hands and greeted the crowd present at the station.


The Vande Bharat Express train launched between Chennai and Coimbatore, known as the Manchester of South India, will cover the distance between the two cities in five hours and 50 minutes, which is a quarter of an hour less than the travel time taken by the Shatabdi Express on this route. 

 

The indigenously developed Vande Bharat train has eight air-conditioned coaches. This train will run on this route six days a week except Wednesday.


Railway officials have told that this will be the fastest train running on the Chennai-Coimbatore section of the Railways.


This is the 13th train of Vande Bharat series started. With the running of this train, commuters traveling between Chennai-Coimbatore will be able to save about one hour and 15 minutes. This train will stop at Salem Junction, Erode Junction and Tiruppur.

 

PM opens new Integrated Terminal Building of Chennai Airport

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi also inaugurated the New Integrated Terminal Building (Phase- 1) of Chennai International Airport, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu today. He also took a walk-through of the new facility.

The Prime Minister tweeted: “The new terminal in Chennai airport will greatly help the people of this great city and across Tamil Nadu. The terminal building also has a flavour of the rich culture of Tamil Nadu.”
