PM Modi Flags Off Kerala’s First Vande Bharat Express, Lays Foundation Of Country's First Digital Science Park



Thiruvananthapuram: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod at Thiruvananthapuram Central Station today. 


Upon arriving at the venue, the Prime Minister inspected the Thiruvananthapuram - Kasargod Vande Bharat Express and also interacted with children as well as with the train’s crew.  



The train will cover 11 districts namely Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and  Kasargod.


Will connect North Kerala to South Kerala


Speaking on the occasion Mpdi said that One specialty of all the Vande Bharat Express trains that have run so far is that they are also connecting our cultural, spiritual and tourist places. Kerala's first Vande Bharat train will also connect North Kerala to South Kerala. With the help of this train, commuting to pilgrimage centers like Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur will become easier. 


Modi said this Vande Bharat train, equipped with modern facilities, will give a great experience of traveling at high speed without harming the environment. Today, work has started on the project to prepare Thiruvananthapuram-Shoranur section for semi-high speed trains. When this work is completed, we will be able to run semi-high speed trains from Thiruvananthapuram to Mangalore as well.



The Prime Minister tweeted: “Flagged off Kerala’s first Vande Bharat Express, which will enhance connectivity from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod.”



Modi then laid the foundation stone of the country's first Digital Science Park in Thiruvananthapuram. The total cost of this project is 1515 crores. In the first phase, Rs 200 crore will be spent on it. 


Apart from this, the PM also inaugurated the country's first water metro service. The metro built in Port City Kochi will connect Kochi City to 10 nearby islands.
