PM Modi To Flag Off Chennai-Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express today

Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today i.e. on Saturday flag off the new Vande Bharat Express train between Chennai and Coimbatore .
 
After inaugurating the new integrated terminal building of Chennai Airport, PM Modi will flag off the train at Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Central Railway Station at 4 pm.
 

PM Modi will reach INS Adyar by helicopter from the airport, from there he will reach the Central Railway Station by road.

New Vande Bharat will reduce travel time by almost an hour


The new Vande Bharat train connecting Coimbatore with Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai will reduce the travel time of passengers to both the destinations by almost an hour.

Modi will also inaugurate the 37-km new broad gauge section between Thiruthuraipoondi and Agasthiyampalli, built at a cost of Rs 294 crore.


Southern Railway sources said that the new rail line will benefit the movement of edible and industrial salt from various salt centers in and around Agasthiyampalli in Nagapattinam district, as well as farmers and traders in the area.

Modi will also flag off a DEMU service between Thiruthuraipoondi and Agasthiyampalli and a new tri-weekly express service between Tambaram and Sengottai.


There will also be the first regular train service from Chennai to Thiruvarur-Karaikkud section. This service will especially benefit students, employees, businessmen and regular commuters and will also help in promoting tourism in the southern part of the Western Ghats.
 

Following the event, PM Modi will attend the 125th commemoration celebrations of Sri Ramakrishna Math at Vivekanandar Illam on the Marina Beach Front and inaugurate various road projects.
