Punjab: Firing In Bathinda Military Station, Four Army Personnel Martyred

Bathinda: A firing incident took place inside the Bathinda Military Station in Punjab in the early hours of Wednesday, in which four army personnel were martyred.

Confirming this, an army spokesman said that there was a firing incident at around 04:35 am inside the military station in which four people were killed. He said that the rapid action team of the army has cordoned off the entire area. No person is being allowed in or out of the area.

The incident took place in an artillery unit where four army personnel succumbed to bullet injuries. No other personnel were injured and no property damage has been reported.

Not a terrosist incident

Assistant Director General of Police (ADGP) SPS Parmar told that it is not a terrorist incident. He told that something can be said for sure only after getting official information from the army. The area has been sealed and the Army is conducting a joint investigation with the Punjab Police to establish the facts of the matter.

parmar said all aspects including the possible involvement of an INSAS rifle with 28 rounds that went missing two days back are being probed.

Keeping in view the sensitivity of the matter, an army officer has requested the media to avoid rumors and speculation.
