Karnataka: Siddaramaiah to Be CM, Shivakumar Deputy CM



Bengaluru: The question of who will become the Chief Minister in Karnataka has now been resolved. Siddaramaiah finally won the bet after four days of continuous churning for the post of Chief Minister. The Congress high command has taken a decision to make Siddaramaiah the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. Along with this, the DK Shivakumar will be the deputy CM of the state. He too has agreed. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has reached a consensus to form the Karnataka government.


Oath taking ceremony on 20 May


The swearing-in ceremony of the Karnataka CM will now take place on May 20 at 12.30 pm in Bengaluru. According to the party, at present the swearing-in was scheduled to take place on the 18th. But the party wants to make it a grand event. 


In such a situation, the Congress wants to invite the leaders of all the opposition parties along with the Gandhi family. Therefore, the swearing-in ceremony will be held on May 20. Because 19th is Amavasya. Earlier, police officials inspected the Sri Kanteerao Outdoor Stadium in Bangalore where the swearing-in ceremony of the new government of Karnataka is likely to be held.


Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president DK Shivakumar’s organisational capabilities had kept him in the race, while former chief minister Siddaramaiah enjoys the support of the maximum number of MLAs.
