Big Blow To BJP: Deepak Joshi May Quit Party In Madhya Pradesh; Nand Kumar Sai Joins Cong In Chhattisgarh

Bhopal: The BJP faces a major setback in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. One of its big leaders in Chhattisgarh has left BJP and joined Congress, while in the neighbouring MP another leader may leave the saffron party to join the rival party.

In Madhya Pradesh, Deepak Joshi, son of formerMadhya Pradesh CM Kailash Joshi and a former minister in the Shivraj government, may soon leave the BJP and join the Congress. Deepak Joshi has given the date of joining Congress as May 6. In neighbouring Chhattisgarh, NK Sai has joined Congress.

Whoever gives me respect I'll be with him: Joshi

Joshi has also had talks with PCC Chief Kamal Nath. Joshi himself has confirmed this. Deepak Joshi said that whoever gives me respect, I will be with him. On this, Kamal Nath said that this is just a trailer, let's see what happens in the future.

Deepak Joshi said that I will carry forward the political legacy of my father. The cooperation that father had been getting from the public, I will always be ready to keep those relations alive. I am joining Congress. May 5 is my wife's first death anniversary. He said that on May 6 he would come to Bhopal and join the Congress.

Joshi was marginalized after Nath govt fell

In the year 2020, the Kamal Nath government fell after Congress MLAs joined BJP along with Jyotiraditya Scindia. In the 2018 assembly elections, former minister Deepak Joshi had to face defeat from Hatpipalya assembly while contesting on a BJP ticket. Manoj Choudhary had become Congress MLA by defeating Deepak Joshi from Hatpipalya. But in 2020 Choudhary also joined BJP along with Scindia and his supporters.

Manoj Choudhary again became MLA in the by-election held after this when he contested on BJP ticket following defection. Deepak Joshi has been feeling neglected ever since Chaudhary became an MLA.

Two months ago in February, former minister Deepak Joshi openly expressed his pain on social media. He had written - The results of deceit and sin have to be suffered on earth. Remember time forgives no one. Even before this, Deepak Joshi has publicly expressed his anguish many times.

Deepak Joshi's father Kailash Joshi became the first non-Congress Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in 1977-78. Kailash Joshi was elected 8 times MLA and 2 times Lok Sabha member and once Rajya Sabha member. The role of Joshi family is considered important in the politics of Dewas district.

Tribal leader Nand Kumar Sai joins Cong

Meanwhile, in Chhattisgarh, veteran tribal leader Nand Kumar Sai on Monday joined the ruling Congress in Chhattisgarh where the Assembly polls due this year-end. He had quit BJP a day earlier

Sai (77), a former two-time Lok Sabha MP and three-time MLA, served as the BJP's state president in both Chhattisgarh and undivided Madhya Pradesh in the past and has considerable influence in tribal-dominated parts of Surguja division (northern Chhattisgarh).

He joined the Congress on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, party's state chief Mohan Markam and ministers at Rajiv Bhawan, the party state headquarters here.
