Madhya Pradesh Election-2023: Kamal Nath Eyes Krishna Gaur's Seat in Bhopal, Holds Rally In Govindpura On Labour Day

BHOPAL: Bhopal's Govindpura assembly seat is among those 66 seats in Madhya Pradesh on which Congress has been facing defeat in elections for a long time. Babulal Gaur and now his daughter-in-law Krishna Gaur have won elections on BJP ticket from Govindpura area. But now Kamal Nath is eyeing Krishna Gaur's seat.

This is the area where most of the working class people live. In such a situation, Kamal Nath held a big public meeting in this area on May 1, Labour Day. The aim was to woo the workers and labour class population of the area which has been traditionally voting in favour of BJP.

Along with the Govindpura industrial area, there is a big factory like BHEL. A large population of workers lives in this area. From here BJP leader late Babulal Gaur had been getting the support of the working class. The Congress tried to woo the labour class by holding a big rally in the area on the pretext of Labor Day.

BJP's victory margin reduced after Babulal Gaur's death

Govindpura assembly may have been in the possession of BJP for 5 decades, but after the death of Babulal Gaur, the margin of victory on this seat has decreased. In 2013 elections, Babulal Gaur defeated Govind Goyal of Congress by 70644 votes. But when Krishna Gaur contested in the 2018 election, the margin of victory reduced considerably. In the 2018 assembly elections, Krishna Gaur defeated Girish Sharma of Congress by 46359 votes. Congress is optimistic about this seat in view of this reducing margin of victory and the changed circumstances in Govindpura.

Congress has MLAs in three out of seven assembly seats in Bhopal district. But Govindpura is such a seat where BJP has been in power for 50 years. In 1972, Mohanlal Asthana became the Congress MLA from here. After Asthana, in 1977, Laxminarayan Sharma became an MLA from the Janata Party. After that in 1980 Babulal Gaur became MLA for the first time. Babulal Gaur was MLA for 8 consecutive times from Govindpura. Gaur's daughter-in-law Krishna Gaur was elected MLA from here in 2018.

On Labor Day, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath announced that May 1 will be a government holiday in the state when the Congress government comes to power. Kamal Nath was addressing the meeting in Govindpura assembly constituency of Bhopal. During this, he also targeted CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

Will our youth get employment in temples and mosques, asks Nath

Kamal Nath said- CM Shivraj Singh has now started remembering the sisters, but maximum atrocities on women are happening in Madhya Pradesh. He says that I am the son of a farmer, but never talks about the losses suffered by the farmers due to rains and hailstorms. There is a difference between speaking and running the government. There is no doubt that Congress government will be formed next time.

Kamal Nath said that will our youth get employment in temples and mosques? Employment is available when the intention of the government is right.
