Victory Of Poor People And A Crushing Defeat Of Capitalist Forces In Karnataka: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday termed the party's resounding victory in the Karnataka assembly elections as victory of the poor people and a crushing defeat of the capitalist forces.

Gandhi told reporters at the Congress headquarters amid celebrations of the Karnataka victory that the Congress stood by the poor and fought for their cause, in which capitalism was defeated. Such results are going to come in the coming assembly elections in other states also.

He said that the work towards fulfilling the promises made by the Congress to the people of Karnataka will start in the first cabinet meeting after the formation of the government in the state.

Gandhi said “We fought this battle with love and blessings and the people of Karnataka. The market of hatred has closed in Karnataka and the shop of love has opened. This is the victory of Karnataka. We have five promises, we will fulfill them in the first cabinet."

People stood up to the money and muscle power of BJP

Congress leader P Chidambaram also congratulated Karnataka's people for a 'decisive verdict' and said they stood up to the 'money and muscle power of the so-called double engine government' of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

'Warm congratulations and sincere thanks to the people of Karnataka for delivering a decisive verdict. This election was more than an election to a state assembly. It was about upholding the fundamental values of the Indian Constitution and stopping the damage done by supremacist theories, discrimination and prejudice,' Chidamabram said on Twitter.
