Madhya Pradesh: 'Shiva's Mahakal Lok' Collapsed In Storm; Digvijaya, Kamal Nath Allege Corruption; CM Shivraj Said This As Politics Heats Up

UJJAIN: In Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain, Mahakal Lok was built at a cost of more than 300 crores and special decoration of the temple premises was done. It was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi. But on May 28, the storm destroyed many idols installed here. 6 idols of the Saptrishis tumbled and broke.

In this case, former Chief Ministers Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath have accused Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of corruption and demanded action against responsible agencies and officials.

Cong forms probe panel

On Sunday in Ujjain some idols of Mahakal Lok got damaged due to strong storm. After the videos related to them went viral on social media, the Congress alleged corruption in the matter and also constituted a committee to probe the entire matter.

Seven members including former minister Sajjan Singh Verma have been included in the inquiry committee of the Congress formed on the instructions of Shri Kamal Nath. This committee will investigate the matter after reaching Ujjain.

Shivraj gave necessary instructions

Taking cognizance of the incident, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan discussed with the top officials on phone and gave necessary instructions amid the raging politics in the state regarding the damage to some idols of Shri Mahakal Lok.

According to official information, CM Shivraj discussed with Ujjain Collector and Ujjain Divisional Commissioner on phone on Sunday itself.

Officials told Chouhan that a natural calamity-like situation had arisen on Sunday due to a strong storm in Ujjain and surrounding areas of Malwa region. In this, two people died (one in Ujjain and one in Nagda) and three were injured. About 50 trees and several power poles were uprooted.

Damaged idols will be replaced by contractor

CM Chouhan was informed that there are 155 idols in Shri Mahakal Lok, out of which 6 have been broken. All these will be replaced by the contractor under the defect liability period.

Cong is doing politics without telling exact facts: Shivraj

CM Shivraj said that instead of standing with the people of Madhya Pradesh, in the situation of such a natural calamity where three people died and people were injured, the Congress is doing politics without telling the exact facts. It is working to spread confusion.

Serious irregularities in construction of Mahakal Lok: Nath

Party's state unit president Kamal Nath said in his tweet that when the then Congress government of Madhya Pradesh had resolved to construct the grand Mahakal temple complex in Ujjain, it had not imagined that the subsequent government would be involved in the construction of Mahakal Lok and will also commit serious irregularities.

Nath said the way the deity idols fell on the ground due to the storm in the Mahakal Lok complex, that scene is a very pathetic for any religious person.

He demanded from the Chief Minister that new statues should be installed in place of fallen statues and those who make substandard constructions should be punished after investigation.
