Madhya Pradesh Rain: 14 Feet Rise In Narmada Level; Heavy Showers May Continue In Gwalior, Chambal, Ujjain Divisions; Respite For A Few Days From This Date


Monsoon activity will continue on Friday in Gwalior, Chambal and Ujjain divisions of Madhya Pradesh. Light rainfall is being recorded in Bhopal since Friday morning. Light rainfall may occur in the capital on Friday. 


After this, there is a possibility of rain on 1, 2 and 3 July as well. During this, there will also be a possibility of lightning strike. Day and night temperatures are expected to drop due to rain. The level of Narmada at Sethani Ghat has risen by 14 feet in 30 hours.


There may be heavy rains in the areas adjacent to Rajasthan. At the same time, it will be cloudy in many districts of the state. Meteorologists say that from July 1, there could be relief for a day or two from heavy rains. After this, the phase of heavy rain will start again.


Level of Narmada rising rapidly, rescue teams on alert


The water level of Narmada river is increasing rapidly in Jabalpur and Narsinghpur. The water level of Narmada river at Sethani Ghat in Narmadapuram has increased by more than 14 feet in 30 hours till Thursday evening. 


District administration and rescue team are on alert. Roads were flooded in Damoh. At the same time, many localities in Ashok Nagar were also flooded, due to which people had to resort to boats.


2 villages evacuated in Seoni after dam leaks


Earlier on Thursday, there was a leak in Dungaria Dam of Seoni, due to which two villages were evacuated. At the same time, the Jabalpur-Itarsi railway track was flooded. Due to this, more than two dozen trains were canceled or were diverted.


Well marked low-pressure area over north MP


According to Skymet, a well marked low-pressure area is over north Madhya Pradesh. Its impact will be felt over Madhya Pradesh as well as over Eastern parts of Rajasthan in terms of heavy downpours. The well-marked low-pressure area will be shifting over Northwest Madhya Pradesh. Therefore, rain activities will gradually reduce over the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh.


However, scattered light to moderate rain may continue. However, the main beneficiary will be the western districts of Madhya Pradesh along with East Rajasthan. Day temperatures are well below normal. Skymet expect comfortable weather to continue over these areas for at least the next week.


It may rain in Gwalior-Chambal. At the same time, along with Mandsaur, Neemuch, Shajapur, Agar and Ratlam of Ujjain division, rain will continue in Rajgarh of Bhopal division. Light drizzle may occur at other places. From July 1, there will be no heavy rains for a few days.


Water starts coming in dams


Due to the continuous rains since last one week, water has also started coming in the rivers and dams. There has been some inflow of water in the Kolar Dam connected to Bhopal. Apart from this, rains are also continuing in the catchments areas of Bansagar, Bargi, Omkareshwar, Indira Sagar, Gandhisagar, Kaliyasot, Kerwa, Kundalia, Mohanpura etc. dams. In such a situation, water will start coming here too. However, experts say that the water level in the dams will increase only after continuous heavy rains.


Rain activities over the western districts of Rajasthan may not be very heavy but the weather will not go completely dry. Scattered to isolated rains are possible. Agriculture in most of the districts of Madhya Pradesh and many districts of Rajasthan are rain dependent. These ongoing rain activities will certainly help farmers. Moreover, the ponds and reservoir will receive ample water.
