ODI World Cup -2023: What former cricketers said about India-Pakistan match

The India-Pakistan match in ODI World Cup -2023 is being discussed almost as much in Pakistan as it is being discussed in India. Pakistan has not yet finalized whether its team will travel to India to play in the World Cup.

The India-Pakistan match is being more talked about then the matches of the rest of the participating teams.

From common people to former cricketers, all are giving reactions on social media in Pakistan as well as India.

It is being debated in the programs of Pakistani news channels that there are security threats in India as well, despite this the Pakistan team is being sent, so why can't Team India come to Pakistan?

TV anchors can also be heard saying that there have been riots in Gujarat. In such a situation, there is a security threat to the Pakistani team due to the match being held in Ahmedabad.

Journalists in Pakistan asked Wasim Akram questions on matches being held in Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Kolkata.

This is no issue: Akram

Wasim Akram said, "There is no issue in this. Where the match is to be held, Pakistan has to play there. Why take unnecessary stress. What is the point in arguing that you (Pakistan) will not play in Ahmedabad, instead you will play at some other venue. If you ask the Pakistani player,  he will tell that he will play the match wherever it is scheduled."

There has been a dispute in the past about the Asia Cup being played between India and Pakistan. India had refused to play the Asia Cup in Pakistan.

Wasim Akram says on this, "We are also patriots and they are also patriots. The governments that are there will talk among themselves, this is their problem."

Pakistan's former cricketers Abdul Razzaq and Sikandar Bakht also spoke to the media.

Sikandar Bakht said, “I am surprised that we go to India, but you (India) do not come towards us. My personal stand is that if you are not coming towards us then we should also not go towards you."

Teams from all over world feel safe in Pakistan: Razzaq

Former Pakistan cricketer Abdul Razzaq said, “Teams from all over the world feel safe coming to Pakistan and play matches. The only problem with the Indian team is that it cannot come to Pakistan and play. On the one hand you talk about connecting hearts, on the other hand you say that Pakistan is not safe. These two things are contradictory."

On the other hand Kapil Dev says, “I understand that there is no player who will refuse to go to Pakistan. But yes, before that it is necessary that the governments of both the countries talk at the policy level."
