Lakhs of devotees continue to visit Puri from different corners of the country and abroad. Everyone wants to see the Lord sitting on the chariot with his own eyes. With devotion, the whole Jagannath Dham seems to be filled with the sound of Jai Jagannath.

The Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra is an important annual festival held in Odhisha's Puri. It is an annual chariot festival dedicated to Lord Jagannath. The Puri Rath Yatra 2023 is celebrated from June 20 and devotees from across the country visit the state and the temple town during this period.

Belief about the Yatra

Lord Jagannath is considered an incarnation of Vishnu. His Rath Yatra has been going on for almost 250 years. There are beliefs associated with Rath Yatra. According to the belief, in the Dwapar era, Lord Krishna's sister Subhadra had expressed her desire to visit Dwarka. Then God took his sister Subhadra and Bhai Balabhadra on a chariot to visit Dwarka to fulfill his sister's wish. During this he also went to his Mausi (aunt's) house. Because of this, the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath is taken out every year.
