Madhya Pradesh: Pachmarhi Monsoon Marathon-2023 On 23 July: Event May Give Fillip To Tourism In Lean Rainy Season

Bhopal: The fifth edition of the Pachmarhi Monsoon Marathon-2023 will be held in Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, July 23. Adventure and You (KA Connect) is conducting this marathon in association with Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board.

Monsoon is the time when the Queen of Satpura wears a stunning wet cloak that bewitches all those who come to her seeking natural beauty and serenity.  But in this beautiful weather, adventure enthusiasts will visit this hill station that also provides some adrenaline rush.

Participants from across the country including Nagpur, Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaipur, Bhopal and Indore are reaching Pachmarhi to participate. Due to the good response received by the marathon from across the country, a total of more than 1350 registrations have been done. This is the highest registration in the editions so far.

Marathon will be held in 4 categories

The marathon will be held in four categories – 5 kms, 10 kms, 21 kms and 42 kms. All races will start from MPT Glenview. The winners will be given certificates, trophies and medals. This race is a timed run. Participants will receive a timing chip, certificate, Dri-Fit Marathon T-shirt, finisher's medal, post race refreshments and support along the route.

Tourism has been selected in Narmadapuram (Hoshangabad) district under One District One Product scheme. In this plan, the local district administration has identified 52 activities for 52 weeks, including this marathon.

Overwhelming response from participants

The marathon has already carved a niche for itself among the serious athletes, said deputy director of MP Tourism Board, Yuvraj Padole, who is also in-charge of the event.

"This is the fifth edition of the marathon. When we started five years ago, our aim was to enrol around 500 participants. This time, the registration has begun and we have almost reached the 1000 participants mark. We closed the registration at over 1350 to provide adequate facilities and infrastructure to all the tourists. The best part is that 42-km full marathon category that was introduced last year, has got an overwhelming response along with 5-km, 10-km and 21-km run. This thrilling event also gives a strong fillip to tourism in the lean monsoon months and generates employment opportunities for many in the region," said Padole.
